"...have been reflecting today just how amazing and dedicated you are with helping students. Exceptional people like you,  make all the difference to helping others reach their best selves. It's truly special and feel so grateful to have met you." JM, PhD Student, Monash University

"I am listening to some of the Q&A sessions, and I am getting so much out of them, I wish I had been confident to attend them earlier on - you have no idea how everything in these recordings is helping me so much." BM, PhD Student, RMIT

"10/10! In the last week - since starting this program 😉, I've achieved more clarity around my thesis and more confidence in my ability to achieve it than in the past three years of my PhD. Honestly. Stress levels have gone from 10 down to a 2." RH, PhD Student, The University of Melbourne

Meet Your Mentors

Dr. Izelle Labuschagne
Founder of Complete Thesis Support & the Thesis Mastermind
She is an accomplished researcher with a PhD in neuroscience and over 20 years of research experience. She brings a strong passion to support early-stage researchers. Her student supervision expertise has been the best, with her PhD students passing without corrections, just like she did in her PhD. Izelle is also a very experienced examiner of all other types of theses (PhD, Masters, Doctorate, and Honours) and has been a panel member or Chair of many student milestone reviews across many universities and institutes.
With a strong team around her, Izelle has a strong passion to empower and lead research students to achieve their thesis goals with ease and confidence so that they can start their dream careers.
Izelle has an impressive track record of publications and has recently published in Nature and Lancet journals.
A/Prof. Alexandra Gorelik
She brings 21 years of high-quality research experience as an analyst and research methodologist with a background in statistics/data science and quality assurance from an M.Sc. degree in Quality Assurance and Reliability.
She has experience in data management, analytics, and business intelligence, with an established reputation in study design and conduct of both qualitative and quantitative research.
As a passionate teacher, Alex enjoys seeing students excel and grow in their core research skills and in improving others' awareness of the value of the data, ways to maximise data captcha, and the use of existing and novel technologies to collect data. She's experienced in working with students on all various types of theses, especially Honours, Masters, and PhD.
Alex has an impressive track record of publications in top journals (e.g., The Lancet) and national awards for clinical trails. She has recently published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
Katherine Anderson
Kate brings so much to us as a team and to our students! A qualified kinesiologist, nutritionist, holistic wellness coach and facilitator with over 13 years of experience, Kate values wellness with a goal to create real and positive change and make students' unique journeys rich and fulfilling. She teaches students how to navigate stress, overwhelm, low mood, and all things emotions so that they can expand and manage tricky periods.
Kate teaches students how to set boundaries to have a life balance, and she gives students practical in-the-moment life skills that will be carried into any career.
Dr. Juliana Peloche
With a PhD in AI in Education, Juliana is our incredible AI literacy expert. A former member of our Thesis Mastermind program, Juliana’s doctoral research explored how stakeholders perceive AI in academia, giving her unique insight into the challenges researchers like you are facing right now. She now works directly with faculty, staff, and administrators to develop responsible approaches to AI in education. She brings an international perspective too — with teaching experience across three continents (Brazil, Chile, and Australia), plus leadership roles at the University of Wollongong, and now, at Edith Cowan University, driving AI adaptation at the institutional level. In short: she is a superstar (in our mind) who absolutely understands the academic landscape, the global context, and the practical realities of using AI as a researcher, and she’s a student fan!
Prof. David Penn
David Penn, Ph.D., is all things academia and a mentor everyone should have on their side. He is based in the USA, where you created an incredible career – he has been in the top 1% of most highly cited researchers for several years, has published over 300 research articles, and has secured top grants, fellowships, contracts, and positions any researcher can dream of. What makes him so suited to our space is that he is one of the most balanced researchers out there – fit, healthy, always enjoying weekends – and now he is inspiring others to do the same in their academic journeys.
Val Rotoni
Val is our company's Operations Manager and overall supporter of our students in all our online spaces.
With a Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, he understands student life and the pressures that studying at university can bring. Val holds our team together, brings incredible ideas to our growing online spaces, and is our technical guru.
Val loves connecting with and onboarding our students in our programs.
